The Heights Performance Centre is bringing another well-known comedy to the most intimate theatre in North Burnaby.

The Long Weekend, the hilarious Norm Foster comedy, looks at the fortunes and troubles of two married couples who go to a weekend retreat at a beautiful summer house in the country.

Navigating through the truth and lies of friendship, The Long Weekend explores the heart of the two couples' respective matrimonial nightmares.

"Foster knows how to craft comedy," said director Robert Turner, who most recently appeared on stage in the spring HPC performance of Savage in Limbo.

"His masterful layering of character, dialogue and scene combine to form an intensely funny amalgam that has a widespread appeal," Turner said. "Foster has a wonderful knowledge of the human animal and its relationships. It's a comedy based on love, hate, jealousy, lust and sex."

The Long Weekend stars Carrie Ritchie as Wynn, Michael Adams as Max, Kim Ketchum as Abby and Trent Glukler as Roger.

The play runs from June 3 to 19 with performances at 7 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, and at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 19. Tickets are $10 apiece, and can be purchased in advance at Biz Books, 302 West Cordova St., Vancouver or through the HPC box office at 604- 294-4166.

The Heights Performance Theatre has free parking and is wheelchair-accessible. It is located at the rear of the Heights Resource Centre, 250 Willingdon Ave.
