Burnaby's best electro-funk band is back on the hustings with a big brassy new CD that will be unveiled in two weeks.

Fidgital, winner of the 2004 Canadian Independent Music Award for favourite electronic artist or group, will be unveiling Vintage Red, a 14-song CD that fuses the band's established electro-pop tunes with a new superfunk sound that is as diverse as it is danceable.

Keyboardist and producer Keith Gillard has infused Fidgital's fifth release with samples of broken beat, hip hop, heavy metal, nu-jazz, Big Band swing and even Bollywood soundtracks, to give Vintage Red a unique yet accessible sound.

Fidgital is hoping to build on its past successes which include hitting the national charts with their previous CD, Renovations, and opening for England's famed electrodance band, The Herbalizer.

Tickets to the April 15 Fidgital CD release party at the Red Room, 398 Richards St., are just $10 in advance from Zulu or Highlife Records, and ticketholders will receive a copy of the CD.
