Const. Alain Benjamin of the Burnaby RCMP will be busy raising money for the Canadian Cancer Society this month as he works on several fundraising events in the Cops for Cancer campaign.
On Wednesday, Sept. 15, Benjamin will be on hand when Burnaby NOW assistant editor Dan Hilborn has his head shaved at Burnaby North secondary as part of the campaign.
Hilborn is participating because his mother underwent chemotherapy treatments through the B.C. Cancer Agency earlier this year.
While Hilborn gets his head shaved, Benjamin has his own equally embarrassing stunt to perform.
He, Const. Steve Bolt and Burnaby North teacher Hersumer Johl will cover themselves in duct tape and then run through the school hallways as students stick money on their bodies.
The duct tape chase brought in $900 last year.
Then, on Sept. 23, the Cops for Cancer bike tour will stop at Burnaby North secondary as part of its 700-km journey to raise money for cancer research, where Hilborn and others will formally present the money they raised.
