A federal election is expected to start this weekend, and if it does, it means voters across Canada will go to the polls on Monday, June 28.
The following is a description of the local ridings, the formally declared candidates and how to contact them.
Burnaby-Douglas
From Burrard Inlet at the eastern boundary of Burnaby, south to Highway No. 1, west to Sperling Avenue, south to Grange Street, west to Sussex Street, south to Kingsway and then west to Boundary road, and then north back to the inlet.
If the writ is dropped on Sunday, as expected, then the NDP will choose its successor to MP Svend Robinson at a nomination meeting on Tuesday night at Confederation Centre. Running for the nomination are former MLA and current city councillor Pietro Calendino and Robinson's longtime constituency assistant Bill Siksay.
The Burnaby-Douglas NDP campaign office is located at 4647 Hastings St., and can be reached by calling 604-299-8767.
The Liberals garnered lots of notice in the riding when Prime Minister Paul Martin appointed Bill Cunningham, the president of the B.C. wing of the party and a local investment banker, as its candidate for Burnaby-Douglas.
Cunningham's campaign office is located at 4435 East Hastings St., and can be reached by calling 604-298-BILL (2455).
The Conservatives were the first to formally enter the race when they chose 34-year-old B.C. Hydro financial manager George Drazenovic as their candidate in Burnaby Douglas. Drazenovic had previously been nominated by the Canadian Alliance.
Drazenovic's office is located at 4701 East Hastings St., and can be reached at 604-291-1883.
Burnaby-New Westminster
From the Fraser River and Boundary Road north to Kingsway, east to Sussex, north to Grange, east to Sperling, north to Highway No. 1, east to North Road, south to East 10th Avenue, west to Eighth Street and south to the Fraser River.
The Conservatives will be represented by lawyer Mike Redmond, who has set up his campaign office at 4805 Kingsway and can be reached at 604-434-6696.
The Liberals are represented by the City of New Westminster director of planning, Mary Pynenburg. Her campaign office is located at 614 Columbia St., and can be reached by calling 604-526-6279.
The NDP will be represented by Peter Julian, a former executive director of the Council of Canadians, and current executive director of the Western Institute for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
His campaign office will be located at 7870 Edmonds St., and can be reached at 604-525-5815.
